Hi. I’m Paula, a baby boomer, a Rhode Island native and an artist. One of my favorite things is hiking and plein-air painting, experiencing the moment and remembering it with oil color and a brush on canvas. I basically paint my experiences, sometimes perception and sometimes with a bit of storytelling. :-)

When I was growing up, the Viet Nam War and Watergate were always in the headlines and so I became a bit of a hippie, kind of a flower child (I still love the scent of patchouli). Some of that probably ends up in the artwork because it was then that my creative juices got going. I was really first inspired by Thomas Cole and Fredrick Church from the Hudson River School. I also really like the dark work of Goya and the allegorical work of Hans Holbein the Younger, Ambassadors.

I went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Education from Roger Williams University, and a degree in Wholistic Counseling from Salve Regina University. I was starting to paint a lot then so I also completed a Certificate of Advanced Study in the Expressive Arts program at Salve.

I am a Patron Member of the Providence Art Club and a member of the Portsmouth Arts Guild. I spend the majority of my free time discovering, painting and sharing art.
